Unit 1 Transformations Below are videos and notes to help you understand outside of the classroom

Unit 1 Vocabulary
Transformation: Operations that alter the form of a figure.
Translation: When a figure is moved to another location without any change in orientation or size.
Reflection: A transformation that creates a mirror image across a line. This line is called the axis of reflection.
Rotation: A transformation in which a plane figure turns around a center point.
Isometry : Transformation in which the preimage and image are the same size and shape
Preimage: Original figure in a transformation
Image: The figure that is a result of a transformation of a previous geometric figure
Dilation: A transformation that preserves the shape of a figure, but not the size. It enlarges or shrinks.
Scale Factor: The ratio of a side of a preimage to the corresponding side of its image in two similar figures.
Similarity: Two geometric figures whose corresponding angles are congruent and whose corresponding sides are proportional.
